Hadith 5370

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that his sister had vowed to walk to the House of Allah, and he also mentioned her weakness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely Allah, the Exalted, is free of need from your sister’s vow, so she should ride and offer a camel as compensation (dam).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The wording of the narration in Abu Dawud is as follows: "The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ordered her to mount and to offer a sacrificial animal (hady)." … Thus, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam commanded her to ride and to offer a sacrifice. From this narration, it is understood that the sacrifice of any one of a camel, cow, or goat will suffice, because the term "hady" applies to all of them.
