Hadith 5369

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that a woman came to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah! My sister has vowed to perform Hajj on foot. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty does not wish your sister to put herself in hardship; she should go riding and offer expiation for her oath.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The reason why a vow (nadhar) is referred to as an oath (qasam) is that the one who makes a vow (nadhar) makes something obligatory upon himself for the sake of Allah Ta‘ala, just as the one who swears an oath (qasam) makes something obligatory upon himself.
