Hadith 5329

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that two men brought a dispute to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, demanded evidence from the claimant, but he had no witness. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made the defendant take an oath, and he swore by Allah, besides whom there is no true deity. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You have indeed sworn a false oath, but Allah Almighty has forgiven you because you have said 'La ilaha illallah' with sincerity."
