Hadith 5306

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Allah! I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is recommended (mustahabb) to seek forgiveness (istighfar) and to repent (tawbah) abundantly, even if, apparently, no sin has been committed.
