عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُكَاتَبُ يُوَدَّى مَا أَعْتَقَ مِنْهُ بِحِسَابِ الْحُرِّ وَمَا رَقَّ مِنْهُ بِحِسَابِ الْعَبْدِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A mukatab (contracted slave) will be given the blood money of a free man in proportion to the part he has been freed, and in proportion to the part he remains a slave, he will be given the blood money of a slave.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … If someone kills a mukatab, the blood money (diyah) will be divided into two parts: the share for his freedom will be separate, and the share for his slavery will be separate.
