عَنْ سَفِينَةَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَعْتَقَتْنِي أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا وَاشْتَرَطَتْ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أَخْدَمَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا عَاشَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Abdur Rahman Safeena, he says: Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) set me free, but she stipulated the condition that I would serve the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as long as he (peace and blessings be upon him) remained alive.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the narration of Abu Dawud, there is an additional point: Sayyiduna Safinah radi Allahu anhu said to Sayyidah Umm Salamah radi Allahu anha: "Wa in lam tashtaritī ‘alayya ma fāraqtū Rasūlallāh sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ma ‘ishtu fa a‘taqatnī washtaratat ‘alayya." (Even if you do not place this condition upon me, as long as I live, I will not separate from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.) Then she freed me and also placed this condition upon me.
