Hadith 5260

عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا أَبَقَ الْعَبْدُ فَلَحِقَ بِالْعَدُوِّ فَمَاتَ فَهُوَ كَافِرٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a slave runs away and joins the enemy, and then dies in that state, he will be a disbeliever.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … If, along with this crime, he actually committed any act of disbelief (kufr), then he will become a disbeliever (kafir). Otherwise, the meaning of this hadith will be that he has shown ingratitude and lack of appreciation for a blessing like Islam.
