Hadith 5259

(Second chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When a slave runs away—and in another narration: when he steals—then sell him, even if you have to sell him for half an uqiyah. By "al-nash" is meant half an uqiyah.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is possible that such a slave may develop a habit of theft; therefore, it is not appropriate for him to remain in the house. This issue may arise repeatedly, so it is better to sell him. It is possible that the circumstances of another household may cause him to abandon this habit. However, at the time of sale, this defect must be clearly disclosed to the buyer so that he is not deceived; otherwise, it will be sinful. Furthermore, the transaction may also be subject to cancellation.
