Sayyida Maymunah bint Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with her), who was a slave woman of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the child born of adultery. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “There is no good in him. I prefer to strive in the path of Allah with two shoes rather than to free a child born of adultery.”

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Such a child is not considered blameworthy in the Shari‘ah, and he can attain the highest of ranks in this world and the Hereafter. However, it is generally observed that the offspring of people with lowly character and such children usually turn out to be unproductive members of society. Observe that when ‘Isa (radi Allahu anhu) was born miraculously, and people saw that Maryam (radi Allahu anha) had returned with a child without being married, they said: {یٰٓاُخْتَھٰرُوْنَمَاکَانَاَبُوْکِامْرَاَسَوْئٍوَّمَاکَانَتْاُمُّکِبَغِیًّا} … O sister of Harun! Your father was not a wicked man, nor was your mother unchaste (so what is this that you have done)? (Maryam: 28)
