Hadith 511

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) that a polytheist mockingly said: "I see that your Prophet even teaches you the manners of relieving yourselves." Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Yes, absolutely," he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us that "we should not face the Qiblah nor turn our backs towards it (while relieving ourselves), nor use the right hand for cleaning, nor suffice with less than three stones, and none of them should be dung, manure, or a bone."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is established from the ahadith of this chapter that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade facing towards or turning one’s back to the qiblah while relieving oneself; further clarification of this will come in the next chapter. The details of the remaining etiquettes mentioned in the blessed ahadith will be discussed in their respective chapters.
