It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, that a Muslim man died on the day of Khaybar. When mention of him was made before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he said: "You yourselves perform the funeral prayer of your companion." Upon hearing this, the faces of the people turned pale. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw their condition, he said: "Your companion has committed treachery in the way of Allah." So when we opened his belongings, we found some pearls from among the Jews' pearls with him; they were worth two dirhams.
