Hadith 5015

عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُحِلَّتْ لِيَ الْغَنَائِمُ وَلَمْ تَحِلَّ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ قَبْلِي
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Spoils of war have been made lawful for me, whereas they were not lawful for anyone before me.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The permissibility of war booty (mal-e-ghanīmah) is a unique distinction (khasiyyah) of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam; before him, this wealth was not permissible for any previous community, whereas its impermissibility was a great trial.
