Hadith 4987

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he accompanied a group of polytheists, but when he found them heedless, he killed all of them and brought their wealth to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) refused to accept that wealth.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Among all the situations in which it is permissible to kill polytheists, this situation is not included. Rather, in this case, the requirement of safeguarding trust (amanah) and fulfilling the covenant (‘ahd) was that they should not be killed, because they had placed their trust and reliance upon Mughira.
