Hadith 4985

It is narrated from Harithah bin Mudarrib, he says: Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Ibn Nawahah: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "If you were not a messenger, I would have killed you." Today you are not a messenger. Khurshah! Get up and behead him. So he got up and killed him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In Abu Dawud, the wording of this hadith is as follows: Harithah bin Mudarrib said: I came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud radi Allahu anhu and said: I have no enmity with any Arab, but I passed by the mosque of Banu Hanifah, and those people were believing in Musaylimah the Liar. Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud radi Allahu anhu summoned them, so they were brought, and he made all of them repent except for Ibn Nawahah. Regarding him, he said: The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had said about you: If you were not an emissary, I would have had you killed. But today you are not an emissary. Then he ordered Qarzah bin Ka'b, so he killed him in the marketplace and said: Whoever wishes to see Ibn Nawahah killed, then here he is lying killed in the marketplace.
