Hadith 4972

عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ شِعَارُنَا لَيْلَةَ بَيَّتْنَا فِي هَوَازِنَ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَأَمَّرَهُ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمِتْ أَمِتْ وَقَتَلْتُ بِيَدَيَّ لَيْلَتَئِذٍ سَبْعَةً أَهْلَ أَبْيَاتٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The night we attacked Hawazin with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), our slogan that day was "Amit" (Kill! Kill!). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) as our leader, and I killed seven people with my own hands that day.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The words "Amit, Amit" are a slogan; if their addressee is Allah Ta'ala, then they will be a supplication (bad du'a) against the enemies, and if their addressee is a mujahid, then they will further encourage him to fight.
