Hadith 4947

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ الصَّحَابَةِ أَرْبَعَةٌ وَخَيْرُ السَّرَايَا أَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ وَخَيْرُ الْجُيُوشِ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ وَلَا يُغْلَبُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا مِنْ قِلَّةٍ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best companion is four, the best detachment is of four hundred individuals, the best army is of four thousand, and an army of twelve thousand will not be defeated merely due to small numbers.
