باب مَا جَاءَ فِي مُشَاوَرَةِ الْإِمَامِ رَبُّسَاءَ الْجَيْشِ وَنُصْحِهِ لَهُمْ وَرِفْقِهِ بِهِمْ وَأَخْذِهِمْ بِمَا عَلَيْهِمْChapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Consultation of the Imam with the Army Commanders, His Advice to Them, His Gentleness with Them, and Holding Them to Their Duties
Hadith 4927

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ نَزَلْنَا عَلَى حِصْنِ سِنَانٍ بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فَضَيَّقَ النَّاسُ الْمَنَازِلَ وَقَطَعُوا الطَّرِيقَ فَقَالَ مُعَاذٌ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزْوَةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَضَيَّقَ النَّاسُ الطَّرِيقَ فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى مَنْ ضَيَّقَ مَنْزِلًا أَوْ قَطَعَ طَرِيقًا فَلَا جِهَادَ لَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We camped with Abdullah bin Abdul Malik in the land of Rome near the fortress of Sinan. The people narrowed the camping places and the path was cut off. Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O people! We participated in such and such expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Once, the people narrowed the path. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a caller to them, who announced: Whoever has narrowed the place of stay or cut off the path, his jihad will not be accepted.
