Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) set out towards Badr, he came out and consulted the people. First, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave his opinion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) consulted again, and this time Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave his opinion, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) remained silent. Then an Ansari man spoke and said: "O Ansar! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) wants an answer from you." So they said: "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, we will not say to you what the Children of Israel said to Musa (peace be upon him): 'You and your Lord go and fight; indeed, we are sitting right here.' But rather, by Allah! If you travel with your camels to Bark al-Ghamad, we will surely remain with you."
