Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Whoever is killed in defense of these things is also a martyr (shaheed), but these people are martyrs according to the ruling of the Hereafter, meaning they will be given the reward and recompense of martyrs. However, the rulings of martyrdom (shaheed) will not be applied to them in this world. For example, they will be given a ritual bath (ghusl) like an ordinary deceased person, and their funeral prayer (janazah) will be performed. Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhu was martyred unjustly, yet he was given a ritual bath and his funeral prayer was performed. The same is the case with Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Uthman radi Allahu anhuma.
