Sayyiduna Ibn Abu Umairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no such Muslim among the people who wishes that Allah causes him to die and then he returns to you and is given the world and all that is in it, except for the martyr. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I am martyred in the way of Allah, this deed is more beloved to me than that all the cities and villages are given to me.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the narration of Sunan al-Nasa’i, the words "Ahl al-Wabar wa al-Madar" appear. By the former is meant the Bedouins, and by the latter, those who dwell in settlements and cities. What is intended by this is the world and its treasures; all of this is perishable, whereas the reward of martyrdom remains and is everlasting. There can be no comparison between that which is perishable and that which is everlasting.
