Hadith 4869

Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the expedition of Tabuk and approached Madinah Munawwarah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, there are people in Madinah such that whenever you set out and whichever valley you crossed, they were with you. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! While they are in Madinah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, they are in Madinah; in fact, an excuse has kept them back.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Some of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum), due to being excused, were unable to participate in jihad, but they had an intense longing and desire that if only they were not excused, they would have participated in jihad. Because of this desire, Allah Ta‘ala granted them the reward of jihad.
