Hadith 4847

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: We were present with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the day of Khaybar. Regarding a man who claimed to be a Muslim, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "He is of the people of Hell." When we began to fight, that man fought very fiercely and was also wounded. Someone said: O Messenger of Allah! The man about whom you said he is of the people of Hell, today he fought very fiercely and now he has died. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "He has gone to the Fire." It was near that, because of this statement, some people would fall into doubt and suspicion. In any case, while people were in this state, someone said: That man has not died yet, but he has been severely wounded. When night fell, the man could not bear the pain of his wound and he committed suicide. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was informed about him, he said: "Allahu Akbar, I bear witness that indeed I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger." Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered Sayyiduna Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him, and he announced among the people that indeed the situation is such that only a Muslim soul will enter Paradise, and Allah, the Exalted, supports this religion even through a wicked man.
