Hadith 4825

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from among the Companions of the Messenger passed by a valley in which there was a spring of sweet water, and its fragrance greatly pleased him. He said (in his heart): If I separate myself from the people and settle in this valley... but first I will consult the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When he mentioned this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Do not do so, because) your staying in the path of Allah is better than sixty years of worship among your family. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you and admit you to Paradise! Strive in the path of Allah; whoever strives in the path of Allah for the duration between two milkings of a she-camel, Paradise becomes obligatory for him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The reality is that this world is not a place to become attached to; rather, it is a means for success in the Hereafter. Look at the pure group of the noble Companions (Sahabah kiram): they preferred poverty and hunger, bore the anger of both their own and strangers, but in their brief lives, they showed true loyalty to Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), and thus became inheritors of the gardens of Paradise forever and ever.
