Hadith 4797

Abu Ishaq says: I said to Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him): A man attacks the polytheists, is he the one who throws himself into destruction with his own hand? He said: No, because Allah Almighty sent His Messenger and said: Strive in the way of Allah, you will not be held responsible except for your own self. This is about spending wealth.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … What is meant by “do not throw yourselves into destruction” is not spending in jihad and other good deeds, as Allah the Exalted has said: {وَ اَنْفِقُوْا فِیْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰہِ وَلَا تُلْقُوْا بِاَیْدِیْکُمْ اِلَی التَّھْلُکَۃِ} … And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw your hands into destruction. (Surah: 195)
