بَابُ مَنْ سَمَّاهُمُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَغَيَّرَ أَسْمَاءَهُمْ لِمَصْلَحَةٍChapter on Those Whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) Named and Whose Names He Changed for a Benefit
Hadith 4762

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ كَانَ اسْمُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بَرَّةَ فَكَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَرِهَ ذَلِكَ فَسَمَّاهَا جُوَيْرِيَةَ كَرَاهَةَ أَنْ يُقَالَ خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِ بَرَّةَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the name of Sayyidah Juwayriyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) was Barrah. It is as if the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked this name, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) named her Juwayriyyah, because he (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked that it be said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out from Barrah, ... .
