عَنْ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُلُّ غُلَامٍ مُرْتَهَنٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ تُذْبَحُ يَوْمَ سَابِعِهِ وَيُحْلَقُ رَأْسُهُ وَيُدَمَّى
Narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every child is held in pledge for his ‘aqiqah; on the seventh day, an animal should be sacrificed on his behalf, his head should be shaved, and he should be smeared with blood.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: …Imam Malik, Imam Shafi'i, and Imam Ahmad (rahimahumullah) have considered it recommended (mustahabb) regarding the meat of the 'aqiqah that all the meat should be cooked, then from it charity should be given to the poor and needy, it should also be given to neighbors, and those performing the 'aqiqah themselves should also eat from it.
