عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَأْكُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ أُضْحِيَّتِهِ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ مِنَ الْيَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ لَا يَأْكُلُ مِنْ لَحْمِ هَدْيِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: None of you should eat from his sacrificial meat for more than three days. Imam Nafi’ says: When the sun would set on the third day, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, would not eat from his sacrificial meat.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade storing the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days, but this ruling has been abrogated. The statement of the definitive ruling will be mentioned in the next chapter.
