عَنْ أُمِّ بِلَالٍ ابْنَةِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِيهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَجُوزُ الْجَذَعُ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ أُضْحِيَّةً
Sayyidah Bilal (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from her father Sayyiduna Hilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The sacrifice of a one-year-old sheep is permissible.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From the ahadith of this chapter, it is understood that one should make an effort to offer as a sacrifice an animal that has two permanent teeth (thaniyy), however, a jadha‘ (one-year-old) from the sheep species is also sufficient.
