Hadith 4658

عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ كَانَ يَذْبَحُ أُضْحِيَّتَهُ بِالْمُصَلَّى يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ
Imam Nafi' says that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to slaughter his sacrificial animal at the Eidgah on the day of sacrifice and would state that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same.

Benefits: … It is recommended (mustahabb) for the imam to perform the sacrifice (qurbani) in the open field (eidgah) designated for Eid.
