Hadith 4651

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُتِبَ عَلَيَّ النَّحْرُ وَلَمْ يُكْتَبْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأُمِرْتُ بِرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى وَلَمْ تُؤْمَرُوا بِهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sacrifice has been made obligatory upon me, and it has not been made obligatory upon you; similarly, I have been commanded to perform two rak‘ahs of Duha prayer, and you have not been commanded to perform them.

Benefits: … The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {وَلِکُلِّ اُمَّۃٍ جَعَلْنَا مَنْسَکًا لِّیَذْکُرُوا اسْمَ اللّٰہِ عَلٰی مَا رَزَقَھُمْ مِّنْ بَھِیْمَۃِ الْاَنْعَامِ} … And for every community We have appointed a rite of sacrifice, so that they may mention the name of Allah over the livestock animals He has provided for them. (Surah al-Hajj: 34)
