عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ قَالَ أَكَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقَدِيدَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مِنْ قَدِيدِ الْأَضْحَى
(Second chain) We used to eat the pieces of (the sacrifices made in Makkah Mukarramah) with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in Madinah Munawwarah.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Initially, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade storing the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days, but later he granted a permanent allowance for it. In any case, a portion of such an animal’s meat should be given to those who are deserving, and the remainder may be stored, as Allah the Exalted has said:
