It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qatadah bin Nu’man (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said during the Farewell Pilgrimage: I had commanded you that you should not eat the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days, so that the meat would suffice for all of you. Now I make this thing lawful for you; now you may eat this meat for as long as you wish. However, the meat of Hadi and sacrificial animals is not to be sold; eat it yourselves, give it in charity, and you may benefit from their skins, but these too are not to be sold. And if such meat is served to you, then eat it if you wish. In the narration reported from Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id (may Allah be pleased with him), it is stated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So now eat, give in charity, and store it.
