Mujalid bin Saeed says: Sha’bi narrated to me that he said: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: Do a camel and a cow suffice for seven people? He said: O Sha’bi! Do a camel and a cow have seven souls that they suffice for seven people? He said: Yes, the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed this method, that seven people will share in a camel and a cow. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: O so-and-so! Is the matter like this? He said: Yes. He said: I was not aware of this.
