Hadith 4567

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him and Sayyiduna Aws bin Hadthan (may Allah be pleased with him) during the days of Tashreeq to announce that only a believer will enter Paradise and the days of Tashreeq are days of eating and drinking.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the chapter of Hadith number (3860), this detail has already been discussed that fasting during the Days of Tashreeq is prohibited; however, a person performing Hajj al-Tamattu‘, who is unable to offer a sacrifice, may fast on these days. It is an undeniable fact that during the era of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the period of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (khulafa’ al-rashidun), the reason for shortening the prayer (qasr) in Mina was due to travel, and not because of any specific connection to Hajj. The question arises: why did Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (radi Allahu anhu) lead the full prayer in Mina, and does Mina fall within the boundaries that are determined for the shortening of prayer (qasr) or not? Both of these issues have been discussed in detail in the chapter of Hadith number (2357) and in the benefits mentioned therein; readers may study them themselves.
