Hadith 4554

Narrated by Sayyiduna Harmas bin Ziyad Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was young and my father had seated me behind him on a donkey, at that time I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon in Mina, while he (peace be upon him) was mounted on a she-camel named ‘Adhba’.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... ‘Adhba’ refers to a she-camel whose ears are cut. The original meaning of ‘Adhba’ has been mentioned in the benefits, however, there is a difference of opinion as to whether the she-camel of the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) actually had its ears cut, i.e., whether it was truly named according to its characteristics, or whether it was only called by this name and in reality was not like that. The second opinion is more well-known. See: al-Nihayah fi Gharib al-Hadith: 251. (Abdullah Rafiq)
