It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: Some people from the tribe of ‘Ukl came to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and found the climate of Madinah unsuitable. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered for them milch camels and said, “Let those people drink their urine and milk.”

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Animals are of two types: makool al-lahm (those whose meat is eaten), and ghayr makool al-lahm (those whose meat is not eaten). The urine and dung of makool al-lahm animals are pure; Imam Muhammad has also given this same fatwa. The evidences for their purity are as follows:
(1) The aforementioned hadith, according to which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ordered the drinking of camel urine.
(2) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((Pray in the sheepfolds, but do not pray in the camel enclosures.)) (Tirmidhi: 348, Ibn Majah: 768)
According to the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mughaffal radi Allahu anhu, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam explained the prohibition of praying in camel enclosures by saying that there is a certain devilishness in their nature. (Ibn Majah: 769) It should be noted that the sheepfold will be contaminated with their urine and droppings.
(3) There is no clear narration indicating that the urine and dung of makool al-lahm animals are impure.
(4) A rational and practical evidence is that in the present era, the practice of people testifies to the purity of the dung of lawful animals, because cow and buffalo dung is frequently used for fuel in homes; even the same hand that collects the dung is used to knead dough and make bread. Is such use of dung possible with human excrement?
Imam Mundhir said: It is not correct to say that the drinking of camel urine was specific to those people, because specificity requires evidence. (The purity of the urine and dung of makool al-lahm animals) is further supported by the fact that in the presence of the scholars, goat droppings continued to be sold in the markets and camel urine continued to be used in medicines, and they maintained these practices. (Reference: Nayl al-Awtar: 1/247)
According to Imam Abu Hanifah rahimahullah, even for treatment, it is not permissible to drink the urine of lawful animals.
AL-MADHI … The Ruling of Madhi
