Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When Gabriel took Ibrahim (peace be upon him) towards Jamrah al-Aqabah, Satan appeared before him. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) threw seven pebbles at him, so he sank into the earth. After that, when Ibrahim (peace be upon him) came to Jamrah al-Wusta, Satan appeared before him again. He (peace be upon him) threw seven pebbles at him again, so he sank into the earth. After that, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) went to Jamrah al-Quswa, and there too Satan appeared before him. He (peace be upon him) threw seven pebbles at him there as well, so he sank into the earth. After that, when Ibrahim (peace be upon him) intended to sacrifice his son Ishaq (peace be upon him), he said to his father: O my father! Tie me up so that when you slaughter me, I do not struggle and thus my blood does not fall upon you. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) tied him up, and when he took up the knife, a voice came from behind: O Ibrahim! You have fulfilled the vision.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This narration is weak, but for the details of what has been mentioned in it, see Hadith number (4137). The opinion of the majority of the scholarly researchers among the people of knowledge is that it was Isma'il (alayhis salam) who was to be sacrificed, not Ishaq (alayhis salam). This is also what the apparent context and sequence of the Noble Qur'an indicate. We will explain this issue in detail in the Book of Tafsir, in Surah as-Saffat, insha Allah Ta'ala.
