Hadith 4462

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from Arafat, I was with him. When we reached a valley, he dismounted there, relieved himself, and performed ablution. After that, we mounted again and proceeded until we reached Muzdalifah.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From ‘Arafah to Muzdalifah, you (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had Sayyiduna Usamah (radi Allahu anhu) as your companion on the mount, and from Muzdalifah to Mina, it was Sayyiduna Fadl (radi Allahu anhu). It is possible that by “then we mounted again,” Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) did not mean himself personally. The following rulings are established from these ahadith: One should depart from ‘Arafah after sunset. One should proceed with calmness and dignity, refraining from haste and from causing harm to anyone. If an open space is found, it is permissible to walk a bit faster. The journey should be continued until reaching Muzdalifah, and one should not stop without a valid excuse. The Maghrib prayer should not be performed on the way, but rather, it should be combined with the ‘Isha prayer upon reaching Muzdalifah. The practice of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and talbiyah should be continued.
