Narrated by Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut'im, may Allah be pleased with him, he says: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, before his Prophethood, standing with the people in Arafat, until he, by the grace of Allah Almighty, returned with the people.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, even before the descent of revelation, opposed the customs of his people and stood with the common people at ‘Arafah. This was by the tawfiq (divine enablement) of Allah Ta‘ala. Then, when the religion of Islam was revealed, Allah Ta‘ala commanded the Quraysh to also return from ‘Arafah like the common people. In the statement of Allah Ta‘ala {ثُمَّاَفِیْضُوْامِنْحَیْثُاَفَاضَالنَّاسُ}, this very command is being given. Although the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam’s going to ‘Arafat and standing there on his mount is an incident from before his Prophethood, he had special tawfiq from Allah Ta‘ala, and Allah Ta‘ala intended to keep him firm upon this action. In any case, even on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada‘), the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stood on his mount, and this very action is a proof for us.
