Narrated by Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut’im (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The entire plain of Arafat is a place for standing (Wuquf), except that you should stay away from the valley of ‘Urnah. Similarly, the whole of Muzdalifah is a place for standing, and you should keep away from the valley of Muhassir. All the paths of Mina are places for sacrifice, and all the days of Tashreeq are days of sacrifice.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Between Mina and Arafat lies the valley of ‘Urnah, and between Mina and Muzdalifah lies the valley of Muhassir. Since the valley of ‘Urnah is not part of Arafat, and the valley of Muhassir is not part of Muzdalifah, therefore the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) instructed to stay away from them during the period of standing (wuquf). In hadith number (4485), it is mentioned that the valley of Muhassir is a part of Mina; nevertheless, it is prohibited to stay there. The reason for the naming of the valley of Muhassir is that the elephant of Abraha became exhausted upon reaching this valley, and Abraha and his companions were filled with regret; whereas "Muhassir" means "one who puts into regret." The area of this valley is within a stone’s throw. From the last part of the hadith, it is understood that sacrifice (qurbani) can be performed until sunset on the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah.
