Abu Tufail says: I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): Tell me about riding during the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, because your people consider it a Sunnah. He said: Their statement is correct to some extent and incorrect to some extent. I said: What is the meaning of their statement being correct to some extent and incorrect to some extent? He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Makkah, and all the people also came, even the young girls came, and no one was prevented from coming to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), (but the crowd was very large), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Tawaf and Sa’i on a mount, otherwise he preferred to dismount and perform this act on foot.
