Hadith 4366

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I wished to enter the House of Allah (the Ka'bah) and pray inside it, but what happened was that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and brought me into the Hatim and said to me: If you wish to enter the House of Allah, then pray here, because this too is a part of the House of Allah. However, since your people, the Quraysh, were unable to build the Ka'bah on the foundations of Ibrahim during its construction, they left out this portion from the House of Allah.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There is a principle in Usul al-Fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence) which has been expressed in two ways: “Yudfa‘u ashaddu al-dararayn bi-tahammuli akhaffihima” (The greater harm is averted by bearing the lesser harm), and “Daf‘u a‘zami al-mafsadatayn bi-ihtimali adnahuma” (The greater corruption is averted by accepting the lesser corruption). This very principle is also established from this blessed hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: on one side, there was the anticipated corruption of those close to Islam becoming alienated, and on the other side, the corruption of leaving the Ka‘bah in an incomplete state. The greater corruption was the alienation of the people, so to avoid this, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam left the structure of the Ka‘bah as it was. This is called expediency and wisdom. However, readers should keep in mind that an ordinary person cannot decide on such expediency and corruption; to make such a decision, it is necessary to have deep knowledge of the Shari‘ah and to understand its objectives.
