Hadith 4359

((وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) بِنَحْوِهِ وَفِيهِ قَالَ:) وَأَتَى السِّقَايَةَ فَقَالَ: ((اسْقُونِي)) فَقَالُوا: إِنَّ هَذَا يَخُوضُهُ النَّاسُ وَلَكِنَّا نَأْتِيكَ بِهِ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ، فَقَالَ: ((لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيهِ، اسْقُونِي مِمَّا يَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ النَّاسُ))
. (Second Chain) This hadith is also narrated through a second chain in the same manner, except that in it is mentioned: After performing tawaf, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the place where Zamzam water was being served and said: Give me some to drink as well. They said: This water is constantly being affected by people; we will bring you (clean) water from the house. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no need for that; serve me from the same place where people are drinking.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This was an example of the humility, lack of affectation, simplicity, and beautiful character of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, that he preferred for himself the very thing that common people were using, even though there were people present who could have provided clean water.
