It is narrated from Abu Tufail that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) stated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal (brisk walking) in the first three circuits of the Tawaf of the Ka'bah. When he reached the Yemeni Corner, he would walk at a normal pace up to the Black Stone, then resume ramal, and in the remaining four circuits, he walked at a normal pace. Then Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: In this way, this ramal is Sunnah, and this was the incident of the Farewell Pilgrimage.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The reasons due to which the practice of ramal (walking briskly with short steps) was initiated were absent at the time of the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada‘), but the ruling of ramal will remain, as it has become established as an independent sunnah.
