Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ukeem Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) says: This letter from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was read to us: "Do not benefit from the skin and tendons of carrion."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... "Ihaab" refers to that hide which has not been tanned. It is not permissible to benefit from such a hide of a dead animal. However, when it is tanned, it becomes pure, and at that point, it is no longer called "ihaab."
