Hadith 4295

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you are in the state of Ihram, then land game will be lawful for you only in the case that neither you hunt it yourself nor is it hunted for your sake.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Which land game meat is permissible for a person in the state of ihram, and which is impermissible? In this matter, a distinctive ruling has been stated in this blessed hadith, and in its light, the generality of other ahadith will be specified. According to the ahadith of the previous chapter, in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not eat the meat of game, the reason for this was that the game had been hunted specifically to be served to him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
