Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), a man asked: O Messenger of Allah! What kind of clothing can a Muhrim wear? Or he said: What kind of clothing can a Muhrim not wear? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He cannot wear a shirt, trousers, turban, or socks. However, if he does not find shoes, he may wear socks after cutting them below the ankles. Similarly, he cannot wear a cloak or a burnous, nor can he wear clothes that have been scented with wars or saffron.
