Abu Nadrah narrates: He says, I said to Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) forbids Hajj Tamattu', and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) commands it. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This hadith regarding Hajj revolves in my hand; we performed Hajj Tamattu' with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and then with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became caliph, he addressed the people and said: Indeed, the Qur'an is the Qur'an and the Messenger of Allah is also the Messenger. The matter is that during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), there were two types of Mut'ah practiced: one was the Mut'ah of Hajj and the other was the Mut'ah with women.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … “Indeed, the Qur’an is the Qur’an and the Messenger of Allah is also the Messenger.” The meaning of this sentence is that the Book of Allah is protected from every kind of alteration and is obligatory to follow, and likewise, the words of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) will be listened to and his command will be acted upon, because the speech of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is also based on revelation. Sayyiduna Umar (radi Allahu anhu) intends to say that during the time of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), two types of mut‘ah were permissible and practiced, but now their need has ended. Sayyiduna Jabir (radi Allahu anhu) says: We performed Hajj al-Tamattu‘ with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), but when Sayyiduna Umar (radi Allahu anhu) became the caliph, he said: Indeed, Allah makes lawful for His Messenger whatever He wills, and indeed the Noble Qur’an was also revealed in its stages, {وَأَتِمُّوْاالْحَجَّوَالْعُمْرَۃَلِلّٰہِ} … “And complete the Hajj and ‘Umrah for Allah,” as Allah has commanded you, and terminate this marriage of those women with whom someone has contracted marriage for a fixed term; whoever marries a woman for a specified period, I will stone him with stones. (Sahih Muslim) Further clarification regarding the mut‘ah marriage will come in the Book of Marriage.
