Bakr says: I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) has told us that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the talbiyah in this way: "Labbayka bi-'umratin wa hajj" (I am present for both 'umrah and hajj). Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) has forgotten; the matter was that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, he recited the talbiyah for hajj and we also recited the talbiyah for hajj, but when he (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah Mukarramah, he said that those who do not have sacrificial animals with them should end their ihram after 'umrah. Bakr says: When I told this to Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: Actually, you consider us children (that is why you do not trust our words).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The correct view is that the statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu should be understood as referring to the initial state of Ihram of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and the statement of Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu should be understood as referring to the final and intermediate state of Ihram. The situation that Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu is describing was not known to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu, to which Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu gave a very reasonable answer.
