عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ بِالْعَقِيقِ، يَقُولُ: ((أَتَانِيَ اللَّيْلَةَ آتٍ مِنْ رَبِّي، فَقَالَ: صَلِّ فِي هَذَا الْوَادِي الْمُبَارَكِ وَقُلْ عُمْرَةٌ فِي حَجَّةٍ))، قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ، يَعْنِي ذَا الْحُلَيْفَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the valley of Aqeeq saying: "Tonight, a messenger (an angel, i.e., Jibreel, peace be upon him) came to me from my Lord and said: Perform prayer in this blessed valley and say that this ‘Umrah is with Hajj." Waleed, the narrator, says: By valley is meant Dhul-Hulaifah.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "the valley of Aqeeq" is meant Dhul-Hulaifah, which is the miqat (appointed station for entering ihram) for the people of Madinah. The reasons for its blessings are known to Allah Ta'ala. The command given to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to perform prayer in this valley refers to the Fajr (dawn) prayer.
